VisualCV licence — what's included and how to extend
CV rewrite clients receive a 12-month VisualCV licence so they can self-edit their CV. Here's what it covers and what to do when it expires.
When you purchase a CV / Resume rewrite, the price includes a 12-month VisualCV licence. VisualCV is the third-party CV-builder platform AdvanceMed uses to design and deliver doctor CVs.
What's included
- Access to your finished CV in the VisualCV editor
- Ability to edit text (work history, achievements, dates) yourself
- Export to PDF any time — keeps the same professional layout
- Version control — keep multiple drafts (e.g. tailored versions for different roles)
- Cover letter and personal-statement templates
What's not included
- Word-format export — VisualCV produces PDFs only. See Can I have a Word version? for alternatives.
- Layout changes are limited by the template chosen during your rewrite. If you want a different layout you'll generally need to start over.
- Re-design or major restructure — that's a fresh CV rewrite engagement.
Why a VisualCV licence rather than just a finished file
CVs need updating. Once a year you'll add a new role, a publication, a course. Doing that in VisualCV takes minutes; doing it in Word usually breaks formatting. The licence is meant to keep you editing your own CV cheaply over time, rather than paying us to do small updates.
Extending past 12 months
Once your 12-month included licence runs out, you have two options:
- Continue your VisualCV subscription directly with VisualCV — recommended. Subscription pricing is on the VisualCV site and is independent of AdvanceMed.
- Download a final PDF before the licence expires, archive it, and re-engage AdvanceMed when you next need a substantial update.
Common questions
Can I share my VisualCV account with a colleague? No — the licence is for the named client only.
Can I migrate the design to a different platform? The visual design is VisualCV's; you can copy your text content out to anywhere, but the look-and-feel won't migrate.
My licence has lapsed and I can't access my CV. Email support@advancemed.com.au — we may be able to retrieve a final PDF on request, but please don't rely on this as a backup strategy.
Need a major update?
If your career has moved substantially since your last rewrite (new role, new specialty, new pathway), it's usually faster and cheaper to engage a fresh rewrite than to retrofit. See How does the CV / Resume rewrite work?.
