Can I have a Word version of my CV / resume?
AdvanceMed delivers CVs in PDF only — here's why, and what to do if you need an editable Word version.
AdvanceMed only provides CV and Resume rewrite services in PDF format. This is communicated during the sign-up process.
Why PDF only
- The PDF version renders better across devices and ATS systems.
- The CV-builder software we use only outputs PDF.
- Using CV-builder software keeps the cost of the service down by automating layout and design.
Most online CV builders deliver only PDF for the same reasons. When competitors do provide Word documents, the quality is typically lower.
If you need a Word version
You have three options:
- Use your included VisualCV licence (12 months) to copy and edit your CV directly in that platform. We recommend continuing the subscription beyond 12 months for ongoing access.
- Convert the PDF to Word using third-party software, e.g. SmallPDF's free trial.
- Pay AdvanceMed to make amendments to your document for you.
